Speech Language Pathologist Assistant

Full-time, 8 hours per day / 10-month position

This position is not subject to dual employment.   

 

 

Reports To:

Principal / Assistant Principal and Chief of Exceptional Children's Services

 

 

 

Salary (FLSA:  non-exempt)
Grade MH-10 ($22.42- $35.45) State Salary Schedule, (plus local supplement)

The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position.  Experience outside of this system is not recognized for pay purposes. 

 

 

 

 

Nature of Work:

 

To assist Speech Language Pathologist in providing direct treatment/speech and language services to students in a school or Pre-K setting under the direction and supervision of a qualified Speech-Language Pathologist.

 

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Licensure of an Associate in Applied Science Degree as an Speech-Language Pathology Assistant from an accredited NC program.
  • Passed SLP-Assistant exam to be registered with the NC Board Of Examiners for Speech Pathologist & Audiologists

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Duties:
  • Consult with the teachers, school staff and parents as needed
  • Provide direct treatment, identified by the supervising SLP, by following the written individualized education treatment plans
  • Offer intervention strategies to staff for carry-over of the students’ speech and language goals and objectives
  • Complete required daily documentation and log services for Medicaid reimbursement
  • Assist the SLP in the collection and tallying of data for assessment purposes without interpretation of data
  • Attend parent conferences or IEP meetings with supervising SLP when needed to help interpret data or discuss change in treatment plan
  • Must meet any specific job requirements as indicated by the District
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
  • Participate in in-service education programs as requested and for professional growth
  • Maintain confidentiality. Treat all information regarding children and their families with the strictest confidence
  • Knowledge of and follows school-wide procedures/policies including emergency procedures
  • Knowledge of and follows county-wide policies pertaining to Lincoln County Schools employee
  • Must be able to perform very heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
  • Conduct speech-language and hearing screenings and screening reports without interpretation following specified screening protocols developed by a speech-language pathologist.
  • Document student progress and complete progress reports regarding established objectives as stated in the treatment plan generated by the SLP.
  • Provide direct treatment assistance to identified students under the supervision of the supervisor.
  • Assist with clerical and other related duties as directed by the supervisor.
  • Report to the supervisor about the treatment plan based on a student’s performance.
  • Schedule activities, prepare charts, records, graphs, or otherwise display data.
  • Perform simple checks and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist in implementing collaborative activities with other professionals.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the supervising speech-language pathologist.
  • Other areas as needed to perform the duties of the EC assignment
