Grade 74 ($4,317.76 - $6,026.53) Plus local supplement
The salary for this position is based upon the successful applicant’s years of service in the NC State Retirement System in the same or similar position. Experience outside of this system is not recognized for pay purposes. For current Lincoln County School employees, this position will be paid according to the current Lincoln County Schools’ pay scale.

Nature of Work
|
Remote and onsite computer hardware and software support for all students and staff.
|
Qualifications / Required Skills
- Bachelors Degree or higher in Information Security/Cybersecurity
- CISSP, CISM, or other relevant certifications is a plus.
- 1-3 years of experience in network and cybersecurity, as well as experience with network protocols and technologies.
- Experience with security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, endpoint detection and response, and encryption.
- Experience applying security management frameworks, such as NIST and CIS.
- Knowledge of network/systems controls, patching and mitigation of vulnerabilities.
- Understand the basic tenets of security: confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Knowledge of security and privacy regulations that govern education including FERPA, COPPA, CIPA, etc.

Responsibilities
- General Help Desk support for end users. (Windows 9x-11 clients, Office 9x-2019, other educational and data management software.)
- General field operations support for end users. (Windows 9x-11 clients, Office 9x-2019, other educational and data management software.
- Assists in the design and implementation of network control mechanisms that serve to control users’ access to computer networks such as firewalls and least privilege principles.
- Assists with implementation of intrusion detection systems, endpoint detection, and log analysis tools for suspicious activity and investigate potential security breaches.
- Assists in implementation and adherence of security framework including policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Coordinates regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
- Assists in the development and implementation of risk management, business continuity planning and disaster recovery plans.
- Researches and evaluates initiatives for IT security compliance.
- Trains staff and students on best practices for maintaining the security of the PSU’s systems.
- Continually expands knowledge of IT security concepts and practices.
- Physical installation of network equipment, network wiring, and new computers is required; therefore, candidates must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs. and capable of physical activities required in these duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Above all, potential candidates must possess the ability to learn and apply new knowledge rapidly. They must also be able to clearly communicate highly technical information to technicians and end users.
