Position:  School Social Worker

 

 

Terms of Contract:  Temporary position, full time, multiple locations

                                  Available:  January 6, 2023 – June 7, 2023

 

Reports To:  Chief of Accountability

 

Monthly Salary:   Teacher State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement)

 

 

FLSA:  EXEMPT

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must hold or be eligible for state licensure
  • Relevant bachelor’s degree or higher required
  • Relevant work experience preferred
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends
  •  

Duties:

  • Performs casework service with individual students and parents to correct those personal, social, or emotional mal-adjustments related to their educational and social progress
  • Performs casework service with parents to increase the parents’ understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available
  • Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and giving information on a case, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the student’s behavior
  • Supervises the referral of students to, and serves as liaison with outside agencies as appropriate
  • Makes home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a student’s background
  • Maintain regular contact with families of students who need attendance support including parent conferences at school/home
  • Serves as liaison between home and school
  • Assists students directly toward adjustment to school
  • Keeps sufficient records of cases for use by school staff members and outside agencies when appropriate
  • Maintain professional competence by attending appropriate conferences and workshops
  • Adhere to Board of Education policies and procedures
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
  • Other duties as assigned
